West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced a relief package for families affected by the Pahalgam Terrorist Attack. On April 22, the attack in Kashmir claimed three lives from West Bengal. The victims were Bitan Adhikari from Baishnabghata, Kolkata; Samir Guha from Sakher Bazar, Kolkata; and Manish Ranjan from Jhalda, Purulia.
In her response On Pahalgam Terrorist Attack , CM Mamata outlined a detailed compensation plan to support the grieving families. Each family will receive ₹10 lakh as financial aid. CM Mamata allocated ₹5 lakh to Bitan Adhikari’s wife and ₹5 lakh to his elderly parents, dividing the compensation equally. She set up a ₹10,000 monthly pension for Bitan Adhikari’s parents and issued a Swasthya Sathi health card for their medical needs. The families of Samir Guha and Manish Ranjan will each receive ₹10 lakh. The families of Samir Guha and Manish Ranjan will also receive ₹10 lakh each.
CM Mamata extended her support to the family of Havildar Jhantu Ali Shaikh. He was martyred in an encounter in Udhampur after the Pahalgam Terrorist Attack. She announced ₹10 lakh in compensation and promised a government job for his wife. The Chief Minister also pledged to provide employment opportunities to any affected family members seeking jobs, ensuring long-term support for those impacted by the tragedy.
CM Mamata expressed her grief on social media and condemned the attack as a heinous act of violence. She shared heartfelt condolences with the victims’ families. She also announced plans to visit Murshidabad to deliver compensation personally to three families affected by the Pahalgam Terrorist Attack.
