The Indian Navy has officially announced the Short Service Commission (SSC) Officer Recruitment 2026 for the JAN 2027 ST 27 Course. Applications are invited from eligible unmarried men and women for approximately 257 vacancies across Executive, Technical (Engineering & Electrical), and Education branches. Online registration is open from 24 January 2026 to 24 February 2026 on the Join Indian Navy portal.

Age Relaxation:
  • SC / ST (P) / ST (H): +5 years
  • OBC / MOBC: +3 years
  • Other relaxations as per Assam Government rules and notification.

Stage 1: Online Application Shortlisting

  • Applications are shortlisted based on normalized marks in the qualifying degree (not simple percentage).
  • For BE/B.Tech candidates in final year, marks up to 5th semester are considered.
  • For postgraduate candidates in final year, pre-final year performance is used.
  • Normalisation formula is available on the Join Indian Navy website.

Stage 2: Services Selection Board (SSB) Interview

  • Duration: 5 days
  • Conducted at Bangalore, Bhopal, Visakhapatnam, or Kolkata (center allotted by Navy, cannot be changed)
  • Tests include:
    • Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR)
    • Picture Perception & Description Test (PPDT)
    • Psychological Tests (TAT, WAT, SRT, SDT)
    • Group Testing Officer (GTO) Tasks (outdoor activities)
    • Personal Interview with Interviewing Officer

Stage 3: Medical Examination

  • Only SSB-recommended candidates undergo medical tests at designated Military Hospitals.
  • Medical center allotment is final and cannot be changed.
  • Candidates must meet Indian Navy physical and medical standards (height, weight, eyesight, fitness).

Stage 4: Final Merit List

  • Prepared based on SSB marks, availability of vacancies, and medical fitness.
  • Selected candidates receive joining instructions via email.
Training at Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala
  • Duration: Initial training period as per course curriculum
  • Induction Rank: Sub Lieutenant (subject to medical clearance at INA)
  • Probation Period: 2 years from the date of commissioning
  • Marital Status Rule: Any candidate who marries during training will be discharged and required to refund all pay, allowances, and training costs.
