Kolkata Doctor Rape-Murder Case :

Amidst ongoing protests and investigations into the Kolkata Doctor Rape-Murder Case, the mother-in-law of accused Sanjay Roy, Durga Devi, cast doubt on her son-in-law’s sole involvement in the crime. Speaking to ANI on Monday, she suggested that multiple people might have been involved.

Describing a troubled relationship between Roy and her daughter, Devi claimed Roy had physically abused her daughter, leading to a police complaint.

My relationship with him was very strained,” Durga Devi stated. “For the first six months, everything seemed fine. But when my daughter was three months pregnant, he caused a miscarriage. He physically assaulted her, and we filed a police complaint. Afterward, my daughter’s health deteriorated, and I covered all the costs of her medical treatment.

“Sanjay is incompetent,” she declared, her voice filled with anger. “He should face the harshest punishment possible. I won’t discuss the details of the crime, but it’s clear he couldn’t have acted alone.”

The rape and murder of the trainee doctor has ignited a firestorm of outrage and protests across the nation, demanding swift justice for the victim. The Supreme Court has taken immediate notice of the case and will hear arguments today.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has been granted permission to administer a polygraph test to the arrested suspect.

On August 18, the CBI team conducted a detailed examination of the emergency ward at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, utilizing 3D laser mapping technology.

The West Bengal government has established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to scrutinize allegations of financial misconduct at RG Kar Hospital between January 2021 and the present.

The SIT, headed by IG Pranav Kumar, will have unrestricted access to documents from government and private entities to expedite its inquiry. The team is expected to submit an initial report within a month.

DIG Waquar Reza from Murshidabad Range, DIG Soma Das Mitra from West Bengal CID, and Kolkata (Central) DC Indira Mukherjee will assist the SIT in its investigation.
