Bengaluru Police Launch Five Special Teams For Massive Manhunt for Rape Accused
Amidst nationwide outrage over the brutal killing of a Kolkata doctor In RG Kar Hospital, a distressing incident of sexual assault against a college student has come to light in Bengaluru. The alleged assault took place in the early hours of Sunday.
Based on the information collected, the police have established five specialized teams to hunt down the culprit.
According to Additional Commissioner of Police (East Zone), Raman Gupta, the harrowing incident unfolded as the woman was making her way back home to Hebbagodi from a social gathering in Koramangala.
A final-year student from a city college was allegedly sexually assaulted by an unidentified motorcycle rider she had accepted a ride from, according to a senior police official.
The victim reported that she accepted a ride from an unknown man. During the journey, the man physically assaulted and raped her,” Gupta stated. “We have initiated a rape investigation based on her complaint.
Gupta stated, “Based on preliminary evidence, it appears the victim was headed to a get-together in Koramangala. Our primary suspect is the individual who provided her with a ride. We believe this person is responsible for the assault, and our investigation is actively pursuing this lead.”
Additional Commissioner of Police (East Zone) Raman Gupta stated that a team of officers was immediately dispatched to the crime scene following the incident. Upon arrival, they conducted a thorough examination of the area and collected necessary evidence. Detailed statements were recorded from the victim and her family members to establish a clear timeline of events and gather crucial information about the suspect.
Gupta further assured that a dedicated investigation team is diligently working on the case. Employing advanced forensic techniques and intelligence gathering, the police are committed to apprehending the culprit at the earliest possible time.
