Tragic Attack on Bangladesh Air Force :

A fatal incident occurred at Bangladesh’s Air Force base in Cox’s Bazar, as local reports indicated one person was killed amid violence on Monday. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) notification, a group of attackers targeted the base, as reported by the Dhaka Tribune.

The assistant director of ISPR, Ayesha Siddiqua, stated that necessary actions are being taken by the Bangladesh Air Force. The Business Standard noted that the violence stemmed from an airport expansion project, which faced opposition from the local community.

Social media videos alleged that unidentified assailants attacked the Samiti Par base. Cox’s Bazar deputy commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin confirmed to The Business Standard that one person lost their life during the incident.

“One person has been killed and several others injured in the incident,” he confirmed. “The cause of the clash will be investigated through discussions with both parties, and necessary measures will be taken.”

The victim, identified as Shihab Kabir Nahid (25) from Samitipara, was reported by Daily Star Bangladesh. Resident medical officer at Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital, Sabuktagin Mahmud Shohel, stated that the victim, around 25 years old, was “brought dead” to the hospital, with deep head injuries, as per the Daily Star report. The exact cause of death will be determined post-autopsy.

This violence followed a pre-dawn press conference by Bangladesh’s home affairs adviser, retired Lieutenant General M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury. He reaffirmed the interim government’s commitment to maintaining law and order, as reported by PTI.

He emphasized that “cohorts” of the ousted Awami League regime of deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina aimed to destabilize the country but assured that they would not be spared. “We will ensure that terrorists cannot stand anywhere and prevent crimes at any cost,” he stated, urging law enforcement agencies to increase patrolling nationwide.
